  • Fit and feel: This is a matter of personal preference and playing style.
    • Traditional: Offers a roomy, classic feel that is looser throughout the hand for maximum mobility. Ideal for defensemen or players who prefer a bulkier glove.
    • Anatomical: Provides a snug, close-to-the-hand fit designed to feel like a natural extension of your body. Better for maximizing stick control.
    • Tapered: A hybrid fit that is snug in the fingers and backhand but looser at the cuff. Provides excellent control while maintaining wrist mobility for stickhandling.
  • Level of play: More competitive players need elite-level gloves with better materials, protection, and reinforced palms. Recreational players can choose from performance or recreational gloves that offer good value.
  • Protection: High-end gloves feature multiple layers of high-density foam and plastic inserts, while budget gloves have more basic padding. All quality gloves include a protective thumb design to prevent hyperextension.
